Day 9: A new week & some more inkwork. Some days, I get into the flow and I long to just create all day. I'm amped up to dig into the bark work on the tree. I love the fine details & though it may work against me I always stive to cram as much onto the paper as possible.

This morning the sun isn't beaming quite like it has been over the last few days but the birds are singing. I'm struggling with launching but I'm pushing through it. I know there are lots of you out there, rallying yourselves to face the day. You got this, I got this. Let's go!

Afternoon Coffee, Urban Sketching

Ya know, I don't often leave the house on weekends. I struggle with social overload, my battery is fully depleted after the work week. I've been trying something new though & over the last couple weekends, getting out into my community has been on the todo list. I've been looking at some of the local cafes & doing a little sightseeing, searching for the next vista to sketch. I'm certain this is a practice that will continue, I hope you enjoy. More to come.

Day 8: The day is upon us, ink work begins! And what a beautiful day for it. The sun is out, temp is perfect for walking in. Its a short workday & perhaps I'll make a cafe stop for some more urban sketching. I woke up this morning a little on edge but I was able to reign it in, I reminded myself that in this moment life is good. At some point life may be bad but its not happening right now so let's embrace it. A little living in the moment.

Day 7: Picking some final lines & cleaned up the eclipse a bit. Getting very close to some ink work. At this point I'll spend some time just staring into the paper, I wanna see if it says anything more I haven't heard. I'm feeling pretty solid about it all. I'm really excited for ink & color, its honestly making my day. My entire mood has been uplifted. I'll obsess over this from now til completion, dreaming in neon.

Day 6: Adding in some details. Toying with the idea of portraying an eclipse. We recently experienced one here, quite a spectacle. This is the point I start to get excited about inking in the lines. I have to resist though cause then its permanent & I always find myself wanting to make changes. Slow n steady.

Day 5: Added some celestial elements & some background, still mulling over the framing of the skybox. I'm also toying with the idea of including some fantasy art into the foreground. Perhaps sprites, fireflies. This large mushroom in the front presents some fine real-estate for deep detail & imagination. I can't wait to sit & stare at it for a while, I'm excited to see what the paper says.

Today, in the afternoon I stopped for coffee at a local cafe. As I turned away from the kiosk & faced the ocean, a scene that has been the subject of many photos was laid out before my eyes. Day 2: A little addition. An atomic habit. Many small efforts add up to big results. I struggle with excellence in the sense that if the results aren't excellent, it isn't worth the effort. I talk myself outta a lot of stuff cause I don't have the time to be epic at it. But the truth is, ya don't need to be epic all at once. Tiny bites over time. I feel like that's the trick.

I've been wanting to start a new piece with a mushroom theme. I struggle with finding the time to put in the full flow sessions I enjoy most. I can't let that slow me down though, we've got things to create! All pieces start like this in pencil with rough linework. That's pretty normal, right? lol. I wish it could be perfection first time every time. I'll probably work a on this a little more this evening.
